With all the talent and expertise accumulated\nin Helsinki, he believes that health-related AI could well be the next Nokia\nfor Finland.<\/span><\/i><\/strong>\n\n<!-- \/wp:post-content --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n\n<span lang=\"EN-US\">HUS Helsinki University\nHospital\u00a0is a global forerunner in healthcare AI. The hospital started\nlooking into AI around 2015, studying neural networks within the human brain as\nwell as getting a handle on machine learning. HUS has a digital archive of over\n20 million images \u2013 truly \u201cBig Data\u201d in the sense that high volumes really\nprovide AI with something to chew on.<\/span>\n\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n\n<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cAs one of the biggest\nhospitals in Europe, HUS produces and deals with lots of data \u2013 just looking at\nimaging and monitoring activity, for example,\u201d says\u00a0<strong>Miikka Korja<\/strong>,\nChief Innovation Officer at HUS.<\/span>\n\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n\n<span lang=\"EN-US\">For a trained radiologist,\nit takes a long time to go over, in detail, images from patients\u2019 brains \u2013\nwhile a trouble-shooting AI will cover vast numbers of images very effectively.\nAI can be especially useful in pointing out those cases where there are no\nproblems visible in the images.
