{"id":3173,"date":"2025-10-20T16:14:24","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T13:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/teknologiateollisuus.fi\/meriteollisuus\/?p=3173"},"modified":"2025-10-20T16:15:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T13:15:29","slug":"cesa-regrets-the-postponement-of-the-adoption-of-the-imo-net-zero-framework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teknologiateollisuus.fi\/meriteollisuus\/cesa-regrets-the-postponement-of-the-adoption-of-the-imo-net-zero-framework\/","title":{"rendered":"CESA regrets the postponement of the adoption of the IMO Net-Zero Framework"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After a week of intense negotiations in London, during what was indeed an extra ordinary session of the IMO, the member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have decided to postpone by one year the deliberations on the adoption of the IMO Net-Zero Framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IMO Net-Zero Framework is meant to be the first global text combining mandatory emissions limits and GHG pricing across an entire shipping industry for large ocean-going ships over 5,000 gross tonnage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CESA supported the Framework\u2019s adoption during this week\u2019s session with the understanding that the IMO\u2019s work on the essential implementation guidelines could then commence and offer the much-needed investment security to the maritime industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s adoption of an international climate agreement for shipping was considered crucial to deliver on the transition of the maritime sector to net-zero emissions and ensure a regulatory international level playing field.
