Sustainability

Sustainability is an important part of all the company’s operations. A responsible organisation operates in the most sustainable way possible and thinks broadly about its stakeholders. The focus is on building long-term success and maintaining sustainable competitiveness.

The majority of the members of the Healthtech Finland are export companies. In addition to Finland and Europe, other market areas and their requirements must be taken into account. This may be self-motivated or in accordance with accountability standards.

A successful company anticipates, and does not expect, that pressure from outside requires action.

Ethics is an important part of responsibility. New technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics still require extensive public debate, because often these solutions replace the heavy or routine work done by humans. The machine always runs at constant power and accuracy. It doesn’t get tired, and it doesn’t have bad days or breaks. However, there may be mistakes and it is up to us to discuss whether we accept mistakes made by humans and machines in a different way. It is worth remembering that health technology solutions are strictly regulated and the manufacturer is responsible for errors, which prompts companies to continuously improve.

The ethical nature of procurement is also important in order to maintain fair competition in the market. For different types of companies, such as importers, manufacturers, sellers and service providers, the picture is different because the needs for social and health care cooperation vary. As an association, we encourage members to consider business responsibility in any situation. An important tool in practice is the Code of Conduct, which also applies to competition, compliance with international trade rules, intellectual property rights, financial control, improper payments, etc. These are strict and binding guidelines for the company’s employees.

Responsibility also takes all industries out of their comfort zone. In the health sector, recyclability, energy and material savings or low carbon are emerging themes that companies need to prepare for. Responsibility is cooperation and learning new things. Industries can help each other.

Accountability is also about openness and participation in the social debate. It is a never-ending road to the future! The journey is worth starting at the latest now!

The responsibility policy of Health Technology Finland will be updated during 2024. We have set up a responsibility working group, where it is worth joining in to discuss responsibility issues together.
