Promising start to the year gives way to uncertainty in the technology industry

Sentiment in the technology industry has shifted from cautious optimism to growing concern. The value of new orders increased compared to the previous year, and the balance figure for tender requests rose and turned positive for the first time in over two years. However, President Donald Trump’s unpredictable tariff actions have put many investment decisions on hold, raising alarm among companies across the sector.

The latest order book and personnel survey by the Technology Industry Employers of Finland, along with the TeknoBaro survey conducted in late April and early May, deliver a mixed message: there are tentative signs of the long-awaited rebound in export demand, but uncertainty is mounting due to the erratic trade policy measures pursued by the U.S. administration.
