YTN Rejects Negotiation Outcome – Strike in the Technology Industry Set to Proceed on Friday

The Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff (YTN) has rejected the negotiated settlement reached on Monday evening. As a result, the strike scheduled for Friday, 28 March, is set to go ahead.

The Technology Industry Employers of Finland would have accepted the settlement. As things stand, the strike announced by YTN for this coming Friday will proceed, although negotiations are expected to continue as soon as possible. YTN has also threatened a second strike for Friday, 4 April.

In addition, YTN has issued a so-called overtime ban for the sector, under which senior salaried employees will not work flexible overtime or travel for work during their free time. YTN has also announced similar restrictions for the design and consulting sector, including a ban on work-related travel outside regular working hours and on the accumulation of flexitime hours.

“This decision by YTN is deeply disappointing. The negotiations have been long and extremely challenging, and the employer side has already made significant compromises,” says Johanna Laine, Director at the Technology Industry Employers of Finland and lead negotiator for the employer side.

The collective agreement for senior salaried employees in the technology industry covers approximately 65,000 employees, taking into account the agreement’s generally binding status.
