Order intake increased in Finland’s technology industry despite global uncertainty
Both order books and order intake strengthened significantly in the technology industry towards the end of the year, despite exceptionally high trade and geopolitical uncertainty. As many as 61 per cent of companies reported an increase in their order intake. However, there are still no clear signs of a broad-based turnaround in the economic cycle.
According to the latest order book and personnel survey of the technology industry, the value of new orders received in October–December was 45 per cent higher than in the previous quarter and eight per cent higher than in the corresponding period of 2024. The strong increase in orders was driven in particular by a very large ship order, while developments elsewhere in the industry remained more moderate.
“Demand has not yet picked up strongly, but despite significant trade policy uncertainty there is activity in the markets, and companies appear capable of operating in a highly turbulent environment,” says Hanne Mikkonen, Senior Economist.
