Environment and Circular Economy

The green transition is not just a necessity: it is also a huge opportunity. The circular economy transition and the securing of biodiversity must be promoted with the interests of exports first, by removing regulatory obstacles and creating new markets for the circular economy. At the same time, raw materials which are critical for Finland must be charted.

Technology investment companies play a key role in developing and applying technologies which support sustainable development. Clean Finnish solutions offer high-impact solutions to global challenges, while the green transition provides technology companies with new business opportunities. The goal of TIF is twofold. First, we want to accelerate the circular economy transition and the securing and increase of biodiversity. Second, we want to create a competitive edge and reputational benefits from sustainable growth and new business for our member companies.

  1. The export-led economy will be boosted with the aid of the circular economy. The circular economy must be supported by removing regulatory obstacles and creating new markets for the circular economy. The key to success in reaching circular economy goals is sufficient resources to secure change, development of the circular economy ecosystems, reinforcement of circular economy thinking and skills, as well as building a secure environment that favours the circular economy.
  2. Biodiversity will be secured and restored with businesses. Consideration for biodiversity will create a competitive edge and offer even more responsible avenues to new markets, products and services globally.
  3. Attention must be paid to critical raw materials and security of supply. The sectors which are critical for Finland’s security of supply must be explored. This would establish the supply risks for critical materials, components and assembly, and make appropriate contingency plans.
  4. Predictability of product policy will be secured. Harmonization of environmental requirements is a significant part of a common product policy. The goal of product policy must be improved global market competitiveness of products manufactured responsibly in Finland.
