Data Act: How to Put Data into Use and Facilitate Green Transition
Technology Industries of Finland welcomes the Commission initiative on putting use data of connected machines into use. Globally, the Commission’s proposal marks a third way between Eastern and Western approaches and aims especially to help SME companies in their digitalisation pathway. The regulation should concentrate on raw, unprocessed data and be fully lineated with Trade Secrets and IPR law in order to maintain companies’ competitive assets.
Path to better competition on the platform market will need better phasing and a controlled start from IaaS level.
TIF does not see any need to regulate the international transfers of non-personal data as companies can use contracts and business evaluations to succesfully protect their assets.
