Finnish technology companies open doors to future talent: 80 participants in the Technology Industries of Finland’s summer work project

The summer work project, organized by the Technology Industries of Finland and its partners, invites young people to explore working life, visit technology companies, and gain insights into artificial intelligence.
For several summers now, the Technology Industries of Finland has offered middle and high school students to introduce them to working life and the technology industry. This summer, the participants will visit Microsoft, WithSecure, CSC – IT Center for Science, and Nokia. The project also includes collaboration with the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, and Kirkkonummi.
First Work Experiences are Important
There is, and will continue to be, a high demand for talent in the technology industry, though these job opportunities may not always be visible in young people’s daily lives. That’s why it’s essential for young people to gain industry knowledge and experience to guide their future decisions.
”First impressions leave a lasting mark on how the industry is perceived, and summer jobs can be the first step towards a career in technology,” says Leena Pöntynen, Director of Skills and Competence at the Technology Industries of Finland.
For many young people, summer jobs are also their first real experience of the working world.
”In summer jobs, young people learn essential work-life skills that will benefit them in the future – regardless of the field they eventually choose. Even the opportunity to explore different workplaces and cultures offers invaluable experience.”
