Technology Industries of Finland establishes the Resilience Forum

The competitiveness of the Finnish technology industry is a key aspect of the country’s sustainability. Technology Industries of Finland has established the Resilience Forum to strengthen joint preparedness among companies and society with a proactive and long-term approach.

Technology Industries of Finland is launching the Resilience Forum. The Forum is a new, business-oriented venue that aims to enhance the preparedness of technology companies and society as a whole, strengthen the sustainability of value chains, and ensure that Finnish expertise can be brought to bear in the midst of a crisis.

“The establishment of the Forum stems from the hard truth that Finland can only flourish if its largest export sector succeeds. In turn, the technology industry can only succeed if it can withstand pressures and changing conditions,” says Minna Helle, CEO of Technology Industries of Finland and chair of the new Resilience Forum.

Modern times demand bold preparedness

Geopolitical tensions, technological breakthroughs, climate risks and supply chain challenges are no longer exceptions but the new normal. Finland is not isolated from the world; the global operating environment is critical, especially for the export-driven technology industry.

“We do not want to be left to react to stimuli – we want to be at the forefront. Resilience is not a defensive posture: it means foresight, agility and the capability to keep going in a new way, even in times of crisis. It is the foundation for growth, investment and courage,” Helle emphasises.

Bring people together and generate situational awareness

The Resilience Forum connects technology companies, authorities, research organisations, and actors who are critical to the security of supply. It provides all technology companies with up-to-date situational awareness, joint analysis models and tangible tools.

The Forum’s work is based on five focus areas concentrating on complete, global value chains:

Overall security for the benefit of society as a whole

In particular, the Forum examines interdependencies — how the interconnections between companies and systems can either increase vulnerability or strengthen sustainability.

“Finnish technology companies possess world-class expertise, perseverance and pride in what they do. Now is the time to bring this knowledge together and build something bigger that enables growth, even in the midst of uncertainty. Naturally, we also work closely with our European and Nordic sister organisations in this area.”

Technology Industries of Finland’s member companies whose activities are linked to critical value chains are invited to join the Forum. The Forum also involves selected partners such as ministries, authorities, security of supply organisations and research institutes. The aim is to establish a trust-based forum where participants are encouraged to share their knowledge and collaborate on solutions that genuinely enhance the overall resilience of society.

“We in Finland need to have more courage to look to the future. It means making strategic decisions that enable companies to expand their businesses and mitigate the impact of shocks. The Resilience Forum is our way of taking responsibility and ensuring overall security. We are involved in building a society that will not just survive but renew,” says Minna Helle.
