Ever-thinner order books in spite of the pickup in order intake

According to preliminary estimates, the turnover of consulting engineering companies (industrial, social and construction expert services) in Finland increased by around 7 per cent in 2025 from 2024. In 2025, their turnover in Finland amounted to about EUR 8 billion.

The consulting engineering companies that took part in Technology Industries of Finland’s survey of order books reported that the monetary value of new orders between October and December was 40 per cent higher than in the preceding quarter and 17 per cent higher than in the corresponding period in 2024.

At the end of December, the value of order books was 3 per cent higher than at the end of September, and 6 per cent higher than in December 2024.

On the basis of order trends at the end of last year, the turnover of consulting engineering companies is expected to strengthen slightly during the first months of the year.

The number of personnel employed by consulting engineering companies in Finland decreased by 2.0 per cent in 2025 from the 2024 average. The industry employed 52,400 people on average in 2025, approximately 1,100 fewer than in 2024. At the end of December, the number of personnel was 51,800.
