Mechanical Engineering in Finland
Order intakes grow quarter-on-quarter
The turnover of mechanical engineering companies (machinery, metal products and vehicles) in Finland grew by approximately three per cent in 2025 from 2024. Their turnover in Finland amounted to approximately EUR 41 billion in 2025.
The value of new orders in mechanical engineering increased by 16 per cent in the April-June period from the preceding quarter. Year-on-year, the value of new orders increased by 39 per cent. In recent years, orders from the marine industry, for instance, have caused significant variations in order intakes in mechanical engineering.
At the end of June, the value of order books was eight per cent higher than at the end of March and 24 per cent higher than in June 2025.
It should be noted that shipyards have an exceptionally large share of the total value of order books.
On the basis of order trends in the first months of the year, the turnover of mechanical engineering companies is expected to start rising this year.
The number of personnel employed by mechanical engineering companies in Finland at the end of June was 0.2 per cent higher than at the end of March. The industry employed approximately 138,200 people in June.
