Value of new orders rises on the previous quarter

In 2024, the turnover of information technology companies (IT services and software) in Finland grew by around 5 per cent on 2023. In 2024, their turnover in Finland amounted to slightly less than EUR 19 billion.

The information technology companies that took part in Technology Industries of Finland’s survey of order books reported that the monetary value of new orders between January and March was 13 per cent higher than in the preceding quarter and 20 per cent higher than in the corresponding period of 2023. Game industry and data centre companies are not included in the survey. In this sector, it is typical for order volumes to fluctuate strongly from one quarter to another.

At the end of March, the value of order books was 4 per cent higher than at the end of December, but 2 per cent lower than in March 2024.

On the basis of order trends at the turn of the year, the turnover of information technology companies is expected to grow over the next six months.

The number of personnel employed by information technology companies in Finland at the end of March was down 0.6 per cent from the end of December. The industry had approximately 80,000 employees in March.
