First political strike announced

For member companies' information: The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries has been informed about the first political strike started at one of our member companies.

Yesterday, the government of Finland announced the measures that it will take to improve cost competitiveness. The government's intention is to make changes in legislation. The measures will lengthen work hours as well as lower overtime and Sunday pay and the pay during sickness absences. The government will also shorten the public sector's holiday rights and lower the employer's social security contribution.

The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries has been informed about the first political strike started at one of our member companies. Companies should prepare for the possibility of more political strikes being organised.

The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries has yet to be informed about any industrial action of a larger scale organised by trade unions.

Political strikes directed at the government are legal in Finland.

Member companies must inform us about potential strikes with no delay to tyosuhdekysymykset@teknologiateollisuus.fi.

If necessary, The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries will inform member companies by email, should there be any industrial action of a larger scale. We will also provide the member companies with written instructions on how to act.
