Collective bargaining for the technology industry to take place this autumn

Technology Industries of Finland and the Industrial Union have agreed not to invoke the so-called option year contained in the current collective agreements. The option was included in the collective agreements for the technology, ore mining and sheet metal and industrial insulation industries. As a result of the decision, collective bargaining will take place this autumn under normal procedures.

The collective agreements for the three industries included the option of negotiating a one-year extension to the agreement by the end of May this spring. Such negotiations would have covered only the wage settlement for 2020, not the collective agreement as a whole. In the autumn, all aspects of the collective agreements will be subject to bargaining.

Postponing the negotiations until autumn is justified as economic prospects are likely to be clearer and all aspects of the collective agreements can be addressed.

The collective agreements in question expire at the end of October.
