Changes in membership during 2021

At its meeting on 24 March, the Board of Technology Industries of Finland decided that Technology Industries of Finland will no longer negotiate national collective agreements. A new employers' association, Teknologiateollisuuden työnantajat ry, will be responsible for collective bargaining activities at the national level, with the association operating as a sub-organisation of and in close cooperation with Technology Industries of Finland. Technology Industries of Finland will continue as a labour market and industrial policy lobbyist offering employment contracting services and support for the conclusion of any company-specific collective agreements for member companies that do not join the new employers' association.

The objective of the organisational change of the federation is to create better conditions for bargaining taking place in companies. No immediate actions are required from companies in relation to the change.

In the future, Technology Industries of Finland will be responsible for lobbying related to labour market and industrial policies and it will provide employment-related support to companies wishing to negotiate company-specific collective agreements. This means that if a company decides not to join the new employers’ association, it can negotiate a company-specific collective agreement with the support of Technology Industries of Finland or not negotiate at all. Employment services are also available to the members of Technology Industries of Finland.

How will membership in Technology Industries of Finland change?

All member companies will remain members of Technology Industries of Finland. Only the members of Technology Industries of Finland are eligible to become members of Teknologiateollisuuden työnantajat ry. In other words, each member company can be a member of either Technology Industries of Finland or a member of both associations. The employers' association acts as a sub-organisation of Technology Industries of Finland.

The employers' association will contact the member companies of Technology Industries of Finland when it is possible to join the association. More detailed information on the association’s activities will also be provided in this connection. Companies can join the association in August after the rule changes concerning the operation of Technology Industries of Finland have been approved at federation meetings.

The membership fee is the same regardless of whether the company is a member of Technology Industries of Finland only or a member of both associations.
