Jari Paasikivi crowned Chair of the Year 2013

Jari Paasikivi, Chairman of Uponor Corporation and the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, was awarded the title of “Chair of the year 2013” today. The award was presented by the Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Paula Risikko, at a seminar titled Chair of the Year 2013, which explored the possibilities and means of accelerating growth in Finland. The winning chairman was chosen from among stock market listed companies.

The Chair of the Year is an honorary Nordic award given annually to the best chairman of a listed company in each Nordic country; from these winners, the best chairman of the entire Nordic region is then chosen. The winner of the Nordic region prize will be announced in February 2014.
 
Jari Paasikiven was chosen on the basis of his work as Chairman of Uponor Corporation and Uponor’s development as a supplier of sustainable construction and environmental systems, in market conditions that have proved particularly demanding for the sector in recent years. In his role as Chairman of the Board, he has ensured the renewal of Uponor’s strategic and business models to maintain and promote the company’s competiveness in Finland and abroad.

A particular reason for Paasikivi’s selection was his long-term work for the benefit of Finnish industry, which is especially valuable for the future of Finland. Jari Paasikivi is a highly appreciated and influential business figure whose opinion is widely respected in Finland. He is presently the Chairman of the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries.

The panel of judges for Chair of the Year 2013 was chaired by Marina Vahtola and included vuorineuvos Simo Palokangas, Chair of the Year2011, Chairman of Nokian Tyres, Petteri Walldén, and the CEO of KPMG, Raija-Leena Hankonen.
